Hey guys - I'm still pretty busy with school, and so the artwork is still at a standstill. But while I have your attention, I'd like to share something I've been thinking about since I got back to school.
Well, now that I am an avid vistor of Tumblr (follow me:
[link]) I was thinking about getting another account, one that is more focused than my "OMG I LOVE ALL THIS CRAP" blog I have now. I want to make a conservation blog, aimed at animals primarily, but I'm hoping to also include some plants as well. The main goal/point of this blog would be the following:
To educate people about conservation issues, action plans, and successes, but mostly to spread awareness for animals and plants in peril that no one knows are in peril. (I'll try really hard not to be shark-biased.

)
When I said conservation, the first thing you probably thought of was the Giant Panda, the rainforests, whales, and big cats. But there are SO MANY other animals faced with extinction or are threatened by human activity, like sharks, amphibians, and even horseshoe crabs. I'd love to spread their stories the most. If there's anything I learned from last year's Shark Week event that I held last summer, it's that many people are unaware of these issues, and that animals we know nothing about are disappearing.
The blog will also include petition postings and other tips for you to make better choices when you're out being a consumer. It will outline what YOU CAN DO WITHOUT WORRYING HOW MUCH MONEY YOU CAN GIVE. A lot of the best work you can do for the environment and your favorite animals can be done without being a scientist, politician, or donating boat loads of money. Though giving money helps, signing your name on the petitions activist groups send out shows the government you want them to work on these problems.
When I started writing this, I figured the blog would be solely Ocean Conservation, since that's my expertise, but ya know what? ALL animals are worth saving, so the blog will be about them all, terrestrial or aquatic.
So anyway, for you dear watcher, I want to open up this blog come May (when I am officially out of school) and I want to attract people to the blog. So I will be offering quick animal doodles (complete with IUCN rating and 1 thing you can do to help it) to the first "some number" of followers. These doodles will be colored of course, but also random - no choosing your animal or I'll be drawing many, many pandas, cats, and whales. XD
So yeah, what do you think?
