The final round of Senior announcements for 2009!

This is one of two pictures. I'll be uploading both. ...My face can tell you what I was going through all day. XD *see journal 6/14/09* At this point I was about to take off the cosplay and change into normal clothes.
This is the full body picture so that I can lay out all the parts. On the other picture [link] I will lay out my ideas and etc. before I started work. Here goes. Gold Headress Kind: Head Gear Parts: 3 Materials: Styrofoam covered with a layer of paper clay and painted with gold acrylic paint. Each piece was then hot glued and stapled with wires to cloth headbands. There is then a veil made of silver fabric. Story: The headress was the ultimate part of the cosplay and was more times than any asked of its creation. As mentioned, it's essentially styrofoam, carved out and shaped with the use of a nameless tool I found in my garage and sandpaper for smoothing. 6 pieces of styrofoam made this, 4 rectangular blocks for the cheek bones (2 each) a ring for the crest, and an egg-shaped one that was cut in half for the crest's bulge in the middle. As said, paper clay was used to cover it, since you really just can't paint styrofoam. The veil is not attached at all, and its main purpose is to cushion the cresh on my forhead (which is kinda failed to do -.-) All in all, it's extremely light - all of it together probably does not weigh more than an ounce. Dress Kind: Body Parts: 8 Materials: Silver, red, black, and gold fabric. There is also a gold/bronze charm on the sash near my belly. Story: The dress sure is epic, but all the fabric frays like a BITCH. So Jess and I decided to make it like a quilt, and fold and sew each stripe and then attach everything like a puzzle piece. So the stripes aren't sewn ON the dress, they are part of the dress. Unfortunately, this is where my costume vears off from Giratina - I don't have the correct amount of chest stripes - we had to cover them as we pulled the front of the dress up b/c we made it too long and I would have tripped on it the whole day. -.- There is also a tie in the back so that it fits my figure after it's on. The sash was made in the same way as the other stripes, except it's not attached to the dress. A charm was added to hide a seam, but it didn't work that way. It filled space. The ribcage parts (gold) are simply plushies, making them light weight and durable and much less annoying. Scarf Kind: Necessary accessory Parts: 1 Material: Partly transparent black fabric and the same red fabric from the stripes. They're basically made from scrap, saving me money. XD Story: The scarf was made last, and it simply long strips of black fabric, cut and hemmed together to look like Gira's tentacles. I then, with transparent thread, linked them together. I was supposed to make a mechanism that would be pulled in the back to raise them up, but it became too difficult with too little time. Kinda glad I didn't because the tentacles became tangled as the day went on, so yeah. There is also a charm on it and it had a few functions. First, it marked where the middle of the scarf was so that I would put it on correctly, then is filled space on my chest, and made it easier to coordinate where the bottom and top were. I also added snaps on the back to hold it in place. I need to add another set, but w/e. Shoes and wrist things Kind: accessory Parts: 4 Material: bought Story: As said, I bought these already made from a store called Forever 21. That store had a lot of cosplay things without realizing it (cuz it's mostly a punk/prep clothes store XD). The shoes I bought beige, and painted them gold. The wrist things I just found and picked from the multitude of gold bracelets they had in stock. Hey, part of cosplaying is finding stuff - it's not all about making everything - I don't give a shit what those cosplay judges say. >D I disclaim a lot of this putting together to my friend Jess. She was the one with the sewing machine and we both put forth a lot of effort. :3 Thanks so much Jess! |

btw, found a few photos of you (Giratina)/you and Scott (Umbreon n Glaceon). I'll send 'em your way tomorrow via note.
n sorry 'bout before. just needed a venting spot in my journal to get all the excess anger/who knows what from this weekend out ;-; meant almost none of the extremely negative/mean stuff (only the skit stuff...sort of >.>; ).
So, let's shake hands and make up and agree to either have a much smaller group or only do panels. I would hate to be your enemy in skit-making. >D
And I'll wear Gira again sometime, just dunno when. I probably won't want to be in that for ConneCON (sp?)cuz it was too hot near the neck, but idk. Unfortunately, all my cosplays are black (wtf).

Oh yes, cause ur ttly mai skit anemee yes xD But I'm still probably going to stick with small-scale skits and walk-ons. It's easier that way.
And panels sound like a good idea.
yupyup. you'll get 'em tomorrow when I'm not so lazy.
I'm probably not going to Conneticon this year. Don't know if I'll have a job or not and I don't want to go to any more cons until next year (but apparently Mark is going down to Otakon for a day to take pictures...I think he's hooked on photographing cosplayers now x3 )
Ouch, I can imagine the heat. The fabric looks like the kind that doesn't breathe well.
You were going to take it off? PICS OR DIDN'T HAPPEN XD
